LightForce braces are a fully customized, special 3D-printed style of personalized orthodontic appliances designed with special software to effectively straighten and align teeth. Unlike traditional braces, which are typically made of factory-standard metal brackets and wires, these braces are 3D-printed ceramic braces created specially for each patient by Dr. Zeifman. The result is an orthodontic treatment experience that is more efficient, discreet and comfortable!

How Are LightForce Braces Different Than Traditional Braces?

Traditional braces use metal brackets that adhere to the teeth that are linked together using a metal archwire. These brackets and wires are one-size-fits-all with a fixed base shape and a predetermined prescription. Once brackets have been adhered to the teeth in the appropriate positions, the Zeifman Orthodontics team will then bend and adjust the archwire to fit your smile.

On the other hand, LightForce clear braces are 100% customized to fit your smile. Dr. Zeifman uses 3D-printing technology to create appliances that are made specifically for your teeth. Appliances are made from tooth-colored polycrystalline alumina, which is more discreet and comfortable than metal braces. What To Expect From LightForce Braces Treatment

A typical outline of LightForce treatment for patients at Zeifman Orthodontics is as follows.

Dr. Zeifman will examine your teeth and jaw structure to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for these appliances. She will also discuss your treatment goals, expectations and budget with you.

Instead of using traditional dental impressions, the Zeifman Orthodontics team will use a digital scanner to create a highly accurate 3D model of your teeth and jaw. This process is often more comfortable for the patient and provides precise measurements for creating custom braces.

Once the 3D-printed braces are ready, you will visit Dr. Zeifman for a custom fitting. She will ensure that the aligners or braces fit well and make whatever adjustments are necessary.

After each meal and snack, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste to brush your teeth. Give special attention to cleaning around the brackets and wires by angling the brush toward the gum line.

 It is crucial to remove plaque and food particles that may become trapped between your teeth and braces. Carefully thread the floss behind the wire and gently clean between each tooth.

Rinse your mouth with an antimicrobial mouthwash to reduce bacteria and prevent gum inflammation. 

Avoid sticky, chewy and hard foods, as they can cause damage to your braces. Examples include chewing gum, caramel, hard candies and ice. Cut fruits and vegetables into small, bite-sized pieces.

Take small bites and chew your food carefully to prevent accidentally dislodging or damaging your braces. Refrain from using your front teeth to bite into food; instead, rely on your back teeth for chewing.
